Landscaping Can Add Value To Your Property

Most real estate agents worth their salt will reiterate the importance of a home’s curb appeal to their clients. Striking, professional landscaping can add thousands of rubles to your house’s market value. It is, in fact, one of only a handful of home improvements that you can make that not only increases the value of your property instantaneously but over a period of time as well.

Although it is fairly easy for any homeowner with a few ounces of creativity to make some small-scale interior and exterior home improvements, garden landscaping does require a bit more effort and practice to get right.

By following a few basic guidelines you will, however, be able to transform your garden into a masterpiece that will both add substantial value to your property while also being the talk of the neighbourhood.

Create a beautiful garden

Did you know that a well-designed and –maintained garden can add as much as 20% to your property value? Everyone loves a beautiful garden that with sprawling lawns, towering trees and colourful flowers.

As a nation, Russia has taken to ‘greening’ up the entire country with more than four million trees and shrubs been planted in Moscow alone  over the last 8 years. While trees do take some time to grow, they are a worthy investment as they not only provide your property with a certain degree of privacy but can also attract an abundance of beautiful birds to your garden.

Your flower beds and rock gardens do not have to be elaborate to be attractive. Even if you don’t have green fingers you can opt for easy-growing plants such as succulents that will add significant colour and character to any cared-for garden.

Increase the usability of your yard

You can boost your house’s value significantly by increasing the usability of your yard. It is becoming increasingly popular amongst homeowners to entertain friends and family al fresco and by adding a walkway, deck or patio to your yard you can not only enhance your entertainment prospects but optimise your home’s usable space as well.

When considering the construction of a deck or patio it is important to not only consider the style of your house but the layout and size of the garden as well. While it may seem like a good idea to erect a giant 20m x 10m deck like the one you saw in a magazine, it will be very impractical if you total yard only measures 20m x 20m.

If you are indecisive about what enhancements to make, consult with a professional landscaper for sound advice rather than attempt to draw up the plans and build the structures yourself.

Add a water feature

Turning your yard into your own personal oasis is easy to achieve with the careful placement of a water feature or two. Running water can is not only very soothing to the ear but can also add a tranquil visual element to your meticulously-landscaped garden.

Before installing a water feature, conduct some research that will enable you to make an educated choice between the large variety of ponds, water fountains, pondless waterfalls, and artificial streams on the market.

Remember  that although a clean and well-maintained water feature can catch the eye of a potential home-buyer, one that is dirty and unkempt will have the exact opposite effect.

A well-landscaped garden will not only add value to your property but will also enhance your personal living experience within your home. There is nothing quite as relaxing as returning home after a busy day at home and being able to relax in the confines of your own beautiful and comfortable garden.
